How can you practise for non verbal reasoning? 7 Months, 3 Weeks ago
What tips do you have for improving in non verbal reasoning? Which books are best? Can I print the chuckra non verbal questions - my daughter doesn't want to do them online?

Wow, I only just put this forum online!

To answer your question...

Non verbal reasoning scores can be improved with practice. After doing lots of non verbal practice tests you wi11 eventua11y notice certain patterns or operations that tend to appear eg. rotations, changing sizes, changing colors, number of shapes increasing. The list of possibilities is long so I shan't go into them a11 now.

A good place to start is our free online non verbal tests (it sounds like you have seen those already). We are in the process of creating more nvr questions but in the meantime, other decent nvr practice can be found in practice books by

  • nfer nelson - these should be good as they are written by the real examiners!

  • IPS - The IPS team has produced good a good set of non verbal questions. They have been careful to make the tests very similar to the nfer ones. We've met the owner of IPS and he's a very knowledgeable chap when it come to the 11+ exams.

  • Bond - although not in the exact format of most 11+ exams, these books are of a high standard and get the brain thinking along the right lines.

At this point our non verbal questions are not available to print. It's on the list of things to do!

Hope this is helpful.
